Project Charter Part 1
General Project Information
Project Name CADRED (Coronary Artery Disease Reduction and Early Detection)
Executive Sponsors
R. S.- Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SG Hospital
A. K.- Chief Clinical Officer (CCO)
The CEO leads the management of SG Hospital. The CEO also represents the organization in the medical
community and media and is tasked with maintaining compliance with state, federal, and CMS regulations
and hospital policies. The CEO is informed of all the activities and projects in the health care organization
because he or she has to approve the budget and risks associated with any project. The project team can be
motivated and empowered by the CEO (Dyrda, 2017).
The CCO is assigned with overseeing clinical quality outcomes and patient engagement. The CCO also
keeps a track of electronic health records and is well acquainted with integration of data that would help note
and compare the change in mortality rate due to coronary artery disease before and after the implementation
of the project. The CCO is also capable of assisting with clinical integration and staff development (Dyrda,
2017).
Department Sponsors
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) provides the P50 Center Grant, which is a specialized project-centric
grant that provides support for the research and development of clinical projects. The P50 Center Grant also
provides access to a spectrum of activities through multidisciplinary approaches that can target a specific
disease, which can certainly benefit the project (National Institutes of Health, 2019).
Commented [CC1]: Justifies the selection of this executive
sponsor and supports reasoning with the evidence based literature
PROJECT CHARTER PART 1
3
Project Aim
The aim of the CADRED project is to reduce the mortality rate due to STEMI (ST elevation myocardial
infarction, a serious cardiac condition that can be fatal). The conventional mode of treatment for STEMI is
fibrinolytic therapy and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Various research studies report that the
mortality rate due to STEMI was reduced by conducting PCI within 90 minutes of diagnosis (Foth &
Mountfort, 2018).
Focus
The focus and strategy of the CADRED project will be the early diagnosis and treatment of STEMI to help
reduce the mortality rate due to STEMI. The diagnosis and treatment strategy involves forming a consistent
team of five peoplea consultant cardiologist, a radiologist, two nurses, and a project manager. The
consultant cardiologist, radiologist, and the two nurses will be in charge of the thorough diagnosis of STEMI
in potential patients (patients currently seeking care for another ailment such as hypertension). Patients at
risk for developing STEMI would be treated with fibrinolytic therapy and those already experiencing
symptoms of STEMI would be treated through PCI. The project manager would be in charge of the overall
execution of the project.

Commented [CC2]: Again supports the rationale for this project
with the evidence based literature.
How might this be connected to an organizational strategic
initiative or goal? Perhaps the organization is seeking accreditation
or designation in the area of cardiac care?
Commented [CC3]: This section clearly summarizes what will
be done to achieve the aim, the team involved and how it will be
done. The summary is clear enough that anyone could replicate
Below, a clear description of team members is provided including
why they were chosen to be on this team

Stakeholders
Board of Directors
A hospital is represented by a board of directors. The implementation and success of the project in
reducing the mortality rate due to STEMI will lead to improved patient satisfaction experience, which
will impact the reputation of the hospital and increase the number of referrals.
The Project Team
The project team is responsible for the execution of the project; therefore, the functioning of the project
will directly impact the individual members of this team. The impact can be in the form of recognition
or monetary benefits in case of a successful execution.
Patients
Patients are important stakeholders as their feedback and satisfaction can impact the reputation of the
hospital. The project, by reducing the rate of mortality in cardiac cases, will directly impact the health
and morale of the patients. Further, the successful execution of the project will help the organization
gain the confidence of the patients in the hospital and increase the number of referrals. The experience
of patients at the hospital can be recorded by collecting testimonials on discharge.
ABC Pharmaceuticals
ABC Pharmaceuticals supplies medications to SG hospital, especially for use in fibrinolytic therapy and
PCI. The execution and success of the STEMI project would directly impact the supply and demand
chain of the pharmaceutical organization in the market.
XYZ Health Care Instruments
Company Limited
XYZ Health Care Instruments Company Limited provides the fluoroscopy equipment used to conduct
the PCI procedure. The company would be impacted by the project as the supply and demand chain in
the market would be affected by the success of the project.
Commented [CC4]: Clearly defines the impact the project will
have (benefits to) for this particular stakeholder
Commented [CC5]: Note the writers use of The impact can
be, which aligns with distinguished rubric criteria
